Dr.
Hugh T. Spencer
Dr. Spencer received his B.Eng.
degree in chemical engineering and a M.S. in biochemistry from Virginia
Tech. He received his doctorate, also in biochemistry, from Johns
Hopkins University in Baltimore. He served for 35 years on the faculty
at the University of Louisville, retiring in 1998 as Professor Emeritus
in Chemical Engineering. Dr. Spencer worked on a number of consulting
projects during his tenure at the University. He also served as an
expert witness in several major cases including the Louisville sewer
explosion, the Carrollton bus crash, the Lake Cumberland controversy
with Fruit of the Loom and the Pepcon rocket fuel explosion in
Henderson, NV. He has served on several professional and social
boards and committees and conducted an extensive research career in
environmental engineering and energy development. Although retired he
still teaches online courses for Oklahoma University in Tulsa, but
spends most of his time playing golf and painting watercolors. He is
also an ASMP registered professional photographer.
